Abstract
This thesis discusses the role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Improving Student Learning Motivation in Fiqh Class VIII Subjects at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. This study was motivated by the lack of enthusiasm of students in participating in PAI learning and the lack of student learning motivation. So this study aims to determine the role of PAI teachers in increasing the motivation of students in class VIII MTs Negeri 2 Sukoharjo. The role of the teacher is to maintain, direct and guide so that students grow and develop according to their potential, interests and talents. Learning motivation is the effort that encourages students to learn. Motivation is a very important capital for learning.
This type of research is a type of qualitative research that uses field research. The subjects of this research are teachers and students. Researchers used interviews, documentation, and observation methods to collect data. Data validity test uses triangulation while data analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing.
The results showed that (1) The role of PAI teachers is not only to provide guidance and direction, but also to create a positive and inclusive learning environment as well as giving grades is also included in the role of PAI teachers in increasing students' learning motivation. (2) Students' learning motivation is applied with a comprehensive approach, including the use of appropriate learning media, the application of reward and punishment systems, and creating a pleasant learning atmosphere. Social interaction, especially with friends, and parental support also play an important role in motivating students. (3) Constraints and solutions of PAI teachers in improving learning motivation such as students' lack of interest and motivation, non-conducive family and community environment conditions, and limited facilities in madrasah were also identified.
